Protecting a Lifeline: Groundwork Ohio Joins Coalition to Defend Medicaid for Children and Families

Groundwork Ohio is proud to join more than 35 organizations in the newly formed Ohio Medicaid Matters coalition to advocate for Ohioans who rely on Medicaid for their health and well-being.

At a time when federal policymakers are considering harmful cuts to Medicaid, we are standing together to protect the vital coverage that supports over 3 million Ohioans—including nearly 380,000 young children under the age of 6 and over half of all births in the state.

Medicaid is more than a safety net—it’s a lifeline. It ensures babies are born healthy, children receive preventive care, and families can access mental health services, therapy, and critical supports that private insurance often doesn’t cover. For children with special needs, Medicaid provides essential services like physical therapy and in-home nursing that help them grow and thrive.

Together, we’re urging lawmakers to protect this essential program and ensure every Ohio family has access to the care they need to stay healthy, safe, and strong.
