Shannon Jones
Advocacy Impact Fund
To honor Shannon’s deep commitment to advocacy and early childhood, we are proud to announce the creation of the Shannon Jones Advocacy Impact Fund. This fund supports professional development, program innovation, and special initiatives that advance our advocacy work—which have always been critical tools for fulfilling our mission. The Groundwork Ohio Board of Directors has seeded this fund in honor of Shannon and in anticipation of the impact the organization will continue to drive through advocacy.

From her first day as President and CEO of Groundwork Ohio in 2017, Shannon Jones began to strengthen the organization’s advocacy program. From her extensive experience as a policymaker and community leader, Shannon recognized that advancing early childhood policies requires two capabilities: 1) reliable and trustworthy insights from research and community input to build issue understanding, and 2) a statewide platform to mobilize that understanding into action. By concentrating on these two practices, Shannon led Groundwork Ohio to be the leading statewide advocacy organization for young children and families.
Over the eight years Shannon led Groundwork Ohio, a diverse and vibrant statewide network of advocacy partners, from parents to policymakers, was formed. So much has been accomplished, and yet so much remains to be done. Until every child in Ohio is healthy and ready to learn by age 5, Groundwork Ohio will continue to drive for advocacy impact with the practices and tools Shannon implemented.
Together, we can make Ohio the best place to be a young child.
