Groundwork Ohio is excited to launch and invite you to participate in Survey 2 of the Family Voices Project! In collaboration with the RAPID Survey Project, we are continuing our efforts to uplift the voices of parents and caregivers across the state. This initiative helps us gather vital data on the needs and well-being of children under six and their caregivers, to inform our work in shaping policies that impact families directly.

What is the RAPID Survey Project?

Since its inception in April 2020, the RAPID Survey Project has been instrumental in collecting timely, actionable data from households with young children. This ongoing national survey gathers insights on family well-being and early childhood development, providing policymakers with a clear understanding of the needs and challenges families face. Partnering with Groundwork Ohio, RAPID is now focusing on Ohio families to elevate the voices of parents to inform policy and advocacy efforts statewide, ensuring that data-driven, parent-informed programs are developed to support families effectively.

Why Should You Participate?

Your voice matters. Earlier this year, 755 Ohio families of 932 children shared their experiences through the Family Voices Project's first survey, highlighting significant challenges such as difficulty finding affordable child care and barriers to accessing supports. These families reported limited access to quality health care and high-quality early learning along with financial hardships that create additional challenges.

Our first survey found Parenting is difficult and Ohio families are experiencing stress as they navigate many barriers:

  • Over one in three respondents reported difficulty finding child care, and nearly 60% felt their current child care was not affordable.

  • Nearly 20% of parents reported missing a well-child visit in the past year due to cost or lack of time off work.

  • More than 40% of respondents expressed concerns about their child's development or behavior, with many also reporting signs of emotional distress in their children.

  • Nearly one in three respondents reported experiencing high levels of stress related to parenting and more than one in three reported they were currently receiving mental health support.

By participating in Survey 2, you have the power to influence polices that will directly address these challenges. Whether it’s about improving access to child care, enhancing healthcare options, or providing better support for families, your feedback will help shape Ohio's future.
