Lynanne Gutierrez, President, Groundwork Ohio
As the President of Groundwork Ohio, Lynanne Gutierrez is at the forefront of our statewide mission, spearheading a powerful early childhood movement. As a dedicated child advocate, Lynanne oversees the development and implementation of Groundwork’s policy agenda and shapes priorities and strategies through effective communication, advocacy, research, and data analysis.
A pivotal figure in Groundwork's strategic growth and transformation over the past seven years, Lynanne played a crucial role in expanding the organization's Statehouse footprint, relationships, and reputation across the state. Additionally, her efforts were instrumental in the successful transition to a standalone 501c3 in 2021.
Recognized as a respected early childhood expert in Ohio and nationwide, Lynanne is frequently sought out to address diverse audiences on early childhood policy advocacy. Appointed by Governor Mike DeWine to the state’s Early Childhood Advisory Council, she has served as a member since 2019.
Lynanne's professional journey includes prior roles in advocacy and private law practice focused on children and families. Before becoming a licensed attorney, she served as a Senior Legislative Aide in the Ohio Senate. A distinguished alumna of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctorate from Capital Law School, Lynanne is also a 2023 graduate of the prestigious Leadership Ohio program.
Lynanne, a resident of Columbus, Ohio, shares life with her husband Anthony and their two young children. She is an avid reader and amateur quilter.

Dr. Susan S. Hasseler, President, Muskingum University
A leader, teacher, and scholar with a deep commitment to the transformative power of an engaging and high-impact liberal arts education, Dr. Susan Hasseler is the 21st President of Muskingum University.
Before joining Muskingum, Dr. Hasseler served as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; as Dean of the School of Business, Education and Social Sciences and Dean of Community Engagement at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; as Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Graduate Teacher Education and Professor of Education at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and as a faculty member of Michigan State University. Dr. Hasseler holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University's School of Education and Social Policy, an M.A. in Special Education from the University of South Dakota, and a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education from Calvin College. She is also a graduate of the Harvard Institute for Educational Management, the Council of Independent Colleges Executive Leadership Academy, the American Council on Education National Leadership Forum, and the Association of American Colleges and Universities Greater Expectations Institute on Leadership.
An active and engaged participant in the community, Dr. Hasseler serves as a member of the NCAA Division III President’s Council, the Council of Independent Colleges NetVUE Advisory Council, the Park National Bank (EAS) Board of Directors, the APCU Board of Directors, the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, the Ohio Campus Compact, the Zanesville Museum of Art, and the Wilds Advisory Committee.
She is married to neuropsychologist Dr. Kenneth Hasseler. They enjoy spending time with their children and 3 grandsons.

Dr. Michael Bullock, Founder, Miles' Mission
Dr. Michael Bullock is a dynamic leader dedicated to serving the spiritual and local communities. As the President of Miles Mission and MKB Ministries, LLC, he embodies a passion for compassion-driven initiatives that support families facing profound challenges. Dr. Bullock's commitment extends to guiding souls as the Senior Pastor of Hands of Faith Church in Zanesville, OH.
His academic journey is a testament to his commitment to learning and spiritual growth. Dr. Bullock holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Franklin University and a Master of Ministry Degree from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He earned his prestigious Doctor of Ministry Degree from Regent University in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Beyond his pastoral and academic roles, Dr. Bullock is deeply entrenched in community service. He serves as a board member for several esteemed organizations, including Muskingum County Adult and Child Protective Services, the Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the City of Zanesville Historical Zoning Board, and the Governor’s Evangelical Advisory Council.
Dr. Bullock has shared an unwavering bond with Kathleen, his devoted wife, for four decades. They take pride in their daughters, Pamela (Kendall) Stevens and Jennifer (Gerald) Bullock-Moore. The joys of grandfatherhood enrich Dr. Bullock's life through his four grandsons, Michael, Noah, Miles (deceased), and Jakobi, as well as his two granddaughters, Ka’Niyah and Harper.
Dr. Michael Bullock's life is a testament to dedication, service, and faith's profound impact in guiding personal and communal growth.

Dr. Danielle Roberts, Muskingum Valley Center Pediatric Specialist
Dr. Roberts earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ohio University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2007. She went on to complete her Doctor of Medicine at the
University of Toledo College of Medicine, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class in 2011. Dr. Roberts completed her residency in Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and has been with MVHC since 2014.

Dr. Barbara Hansen, Interim Director of Education Studies, Muskingum University
Dr. Barb Hansen teaches in the Education Department in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. She serves as the Dave Longaberger Endowed Chair in the undergraduate area and teaches courses in ELA methods and courses for student teachers. She has served as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, and high school/middle school teacher. In the graduate program, she teaches courses for administrative specialist, principal, and superintendent licensure candidates. Dr. Hansen is the Director of the Appalachian Ohio P-20 Council and the Executive Director of the Museum Association of East Muskingum. She is an active member of the Ohio Deans compact and the Muskingum County Community Foundation. She is an elected member of the Governing Board of the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center. When not at work, Dr. Hansen loves to play the piano, refinish antique furniture, and is an enthusiast and owner of vintage cars.

James McDonald, President and CEO, Allwell Behavioral Health Services
James McDonald is the President and CEO of Allwell Behavioral Health Services. He is the founder of ForeverDads whose mission is to strengthen and celebrate fatherhood. He is the founder of Enterprise Muskingum which is a cradle to career workforce development organization. He has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Muskingum University and a master's degree from Ohio University in Public Administration. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Muskingum University. He is the Chairman of Boards at Genesis Healthcare Systems, Zane State College, and Enterprise Muskingum. He and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Sarah and Michael, and a grandson, Jordan.

Joel Potts, Chief Government and External Affairs Officer, Ohio Department of Children and Youth
Joel Potts brings more than 35 years of experience with state government. Most recently Joel served as the Executive Director of the Ohio Job and Family Service Directors’ Association (OJFSDA). OJFSDA represented the 88-county department of job and family service agencies who administer one of the largest health, human service, and workforce systems in the nation. Prior to his work with the county association, he worked for 15 years with ODJFS. During his tenure with the state, Mr. Potts was primarily responsible for managing the development and implementation of Ohio’s welfare reform program.

Sara White, Director of Outreach and Engagement, Appalachian Children's Coalition
Sara White is the Director of Outreach and Engagement with the Appalachian Children Coalition. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a master’s in law, Justice, and Culture, both from Ohio University. With over ten years of experience in higher education, she has extensive experience in academic advising, student support services, creative consensus building, and strategic planning. Sara leads the Appalachian Children Coalition’s efforts to engage with and serve child-focused organizations across the Appalachian, Ohio region, including schools, provider organizations, and higher education institutions.
