November 18, 2017
Senator Peggy Lehner (R-Kettering) joined lawmakers and education leaders on Tuesday to announce reforms aimed at addressing cycles of poverty by helping keep students with disciplinary concerns on the path to diploma attainment. The SAFE Act (Safe Alternatives to Fair Education), which will limit suspensions and expulsions of Ohio's youngest children in Preschool through Third Grade, is expected to be introduced soon. Groundwork Ohio has served as an interested party by participating in policy planning meetings as the bill has been developed.
