After meeting, it is important to follow up to express your gratitude, gently remind them of your ask, and answer any follow-up questions that you were unable to respond to at the time.  Following up with your legislator keeps your ask on their radar and reminds them that you will hold them accountable for supporting your cause.

Complete the final three steps below to ensure that your advocacy's impact is maximized.

Write Down Your Impressions

Immediately after the meeting, write down any information you learned about the legislator's position and concerns. This will provide you with a starting point for your next conversation

Send a Thank You Note

Always follow up with a prompt thank you letter. In the letter, reiterate your key points and any commitments that were made to you. Include all follow-up information you promised to provide.
